"Heroes" - In Theory

Just play it. That's really all you need to do.

I'm going to struggle for the next few minutes trying to explain what you're about to hear, but I'm going to fail. The swampiness of the guitars, the soulful backing vocals, the booming seer of lead vocals are all things that can only be described to your eyes. Your ears and your soul will hear and feel something completely different.

The audible description that In Theory lays down with this song translates to an overflowing cornucopia of sound. Singer Tony Covino channels the bluesy swagger of Paul Rodgers while capturing the high-pitched tone of the late Ray Gillen or Chris Cornell. And even though Covino is an ultra bright centerpiece here, we get treated to all kinds of flashing "feels" that revolve around Covino's powerful pipes. The dobro-like guitar intro and the strains of the Hammond B3 organ compliment the swampy swagger, the backing vocals of LaNesha Latimer push the soul of the song, and the big bottom rhythm section of drummer Andy Sanesi and bassist Collin Lott underneath guitarist Mike Mostert's power chords is really something to behold.

In Theory is the brainchild of Covino and Mostert, and the band that they've built here is something special. With Mostert producing much of the band's material at the infamous Muscle Shoals studios, In Theory is poised to keep bringing their special brand of heavy swamp rock to hungry hard rock fans.
