From Illinois To The Opry:
The Tim Atwood Interview

Tim Atwood is an in-demand Nashville musician who has worked with just about everyone who has made a name for themselves in Country Music.  Last year, he celebrated 50 years in the music business. Tim spent 38 of those years behind the piano at the Grand Ole Opry.  He has accompanied countless legends of the past as well as most of today’s stars, logging in over 8500 shows on the stage where so many historical moments in Country Music history have played out.   Within the last few years, he has moved to the center circle, where he now is one of the many headliners who take to the stage throughout the year.  After all the years of watching Country Music royalty entertain adoring audiences from his bench at the piano, Tim now has the opportunity to directly share his own songs and his great sense of humor from the front of the stage.

In this interview with Dr. Music Associate Kevin Mikol on September 1st, 2020, Tim talks about his beginnings in East Peoria, IL, and how he eventually moved his whole life to Nashville to eventually land the opportunity of a lifetime.  He tells some amazing and often funny stories about his interactions with legends such as Minnie Pearl, Roy Acuff, Jeannie Seely, Little Jimmy Dickens and many others.   Each story that he tells helps to illustrate the fact that he is a sincere and humble man, who is grateful for each and every experience he has had in his unbelievable career.

Tim Atwood is finishing work on a new album, Who I Am, which is set to be released on October 16th of this year.
